IT’S FAIR TIME: Old favorites return to Adair County Fair
It’s time again for the Adair County Fair and Horse Show and the list of activities this year brings back some of the old favorites.
Go Kart racing, which hasn’t been at the fair for a while, will take place on Tuesday, July 6 at 8 p.m. at the main track. Prize money will be awarded to the winner in each class. Entry fee is $10. For rules and regulations go to www.jandm-motorsports.com.
The Klassyc Tymes band will perform on Saturday, July 10 at 9 p.m. in the new pavillion. It has been two years since the band has performed at the fair.
The Fair Idol is handled differently this year. Instead of having tryouts a month before the fair, the tryouts will take place on Saturday, July 3 at 6 p.m. at the new pavilion. Fair Idol will take place nightly starting Monday, July 5 at 7 p.m. at the main track.
There will be $10,000 worth of give-a-ways on Saturday, July 10 at 10 p.m. at the main track. There will be three drawings: $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000. Tickets are available at Grimsley’s Jewelry Store, Flowers ‘N Things, Thomas Photography or any Jaycee member.
Truck Tuggers will be held Thursday, July 8 at 8 p.m. on the main track. Truck Tuggers is where two trucks are tied together and are pulled bumper to bumper.
Tuesday, July 6 is senior citizen night. Those 55 and over can go to the fair for free with presentation of a coupon. Also, Tuesday night Community Voice is sponsoring coupons for $1 off of the admission price for one day only. A coupon is located in this issue or in the Fair Book.
The Wood Carver will demonstrate his work on Friday, July 9 at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at the grove blacktop. His work will be auctioned off during the radio auction later this year.
Those wanting to see the Kentucky State Fair Bears will have to come to the fair a little earlier this year. The bears will be in Adair County on Tuesday, July 6 instead of on Saturday as they have done in the past.
