Deputy hits deer in new vehicle

Deputy Sheriff Justin Claywell only put 10 miles on one of the department’s new cruisers before a deer caused a crash last Thursday night. Claywell was traveling on Hwy. 206 following up on a report of cows being out when the incident occurred. The airbag deployed and Claywell received minor injuries to his hand and arms. He was treated and released at Westlake Regional Hospital. The car was damaged in the left fender, headlight and hood, but a grill guard on the vehicle protected it from further damage. Kentucky State Police investigated the incident.
