New Dollar General store opens in Columbia
GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – A new Dollar General Store in Columbia is giving one local woman a chance to bring her management talents to her hometown.
Naomi Burton has been manager of a Dollar General Store in Russell Springs for five years. She is now the manager of the new Columbia store, located at 1605 Campbellsville Rd.
“I asked for this store,” Burton said. “I’m seven minutes from home.”
The store had a “soft opening,” which means it was not promoted, on Thursday, July 15. The store will host a grand opening celebration this Saturday at 8 a.m.
Burton said shoppers are glad to see the retail chain on the north side of town.
“I’ve had a lot of people this side of town say they are tickled and couldn’t wait for it to open,” she said. “People on the way to the lake are stopping to get food and ice.”
At the grand opening event Saturday, customers will enjoy special deals and free prizes. The first 50 shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.
The new 9,014-square-foot store features a fresh layout, designed to make shopping simple for customers. Some of the store’s new features include seasonal products featured in the center of the store, easily recognizable departments with visible signage and coolers conveniently located at the front of the store.
The store employs approximately six to 10 people. And, anyone interested in applying for a job at Dollar General will find more information and a job application at www.dollargeneral.com http://www.dollargeneral.com/> in the Career Center.
