Burger King is coming to town

Burger King will soon have a new home in Columbia. This sign was put up this week in front of Wal-Mart on Hwy. 61. The franchise is brought to Columbia by Adairmark, LLC, a company in Somerset headed by Mark Merrick, president.

Fire destroys mobile home

The Columbia Fire Department responded to a mobile home fire on Parkway Manor Lane Tuesday at around 5 p.m. The mobile home of Charles Pennington, 180 Parkway Manor Ln., was engulfed in flames after a fire originated in the children’s room of the home, Pennington said. The fire stretched to the nearby home of Betty Porter, 176 Parkway Ln., and caught the front porch on fire.
